When learning how to be a wedding photographer, always remember to look around the church or wherever the wedding may be, and try to see where the light is coming from. You do this so you can project the light more effectively when taking the photos.
Another thing you can try doing is to first take some random practice photos a few days or a few hours before the wedding. Try and experiment if the pictures will com out fine and if they are, great!
I sometimes like to bring friends and sort of make them do what the people will usually do during the wedding like walking down the aisle, the final kiss, etc etc etc. So it's best that you do whatever you can to take good photos.

Another thing I did was learn from experienced photographers. I got in touch with a few people and they all helped me out. They all gave me advice and they all taught me the basics as well as the advanced things that I should know when taking pictures at a wedding.
I suggest you check out Digital Wedding Secrets. Digital Wedding Secrets is another resource that also helped me learn how to become a wedding photographer. Don't let their website fool you. They really do practice what they preach and they really do deliver great advice.
You can learn more about them here.
